The 8th Annual

Georgetown African Business Conference

The Future is African: Harnessing Opportunities for a Prosperous Continent

April 28-29, 2023

Georgetown University

The Georgetown Africa Business Conference is an annual signature conference of Georgetown University uniquely led by students from The McDonough School of Business & The Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Services. Since its inception in 2016, the conference has brought together business leaders, investors, entrepreneurs and students from the continent and around the globe with the aim of promoting and raising awareness of business and investment opportunities on the continent.

2023 IN FOCUS

This year’s theme, The Future is African: Harnessing Opportunities for a Prosperous Continent, explores the economic dynamism and innovation already breaking through in Africa and will examine ways to harness its full potential as the next decades unfold whilst inspiring our attendees to play a part shaping Africa’s future.

The conference includes a case competition that focuses on the intersection of policy and business, which provides real-world learning to current students and an opportunity to share the winners’ findings with an organization that would benefit from its insights.

There are also a series of panels over the weekend, which focus on a variety of sectors such as media, entertainment, entrepreneurship, technology, and energy. Over the course of the two-day conference, Georgetown students will have a chance to engage with one another, students from other DC-area business and policy schools, speakers, and Georgetown alumni.
