Umno chief Zahid addresses party leaders, delegates ahead of June 9 general assembly


KUALA LUMPUR: Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (pic) addressed party leaders and delegates on Wednesday (June 7) ahead of the party's general assembly on Friday (June 9).

His Presidential Address by Ahmad Zahid, slated to start at about 3pm, was delivered behind closed doors at Dewan Merdeka at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur.

He was accompanied by Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.

Also spotted were vice-presidents Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani and Datuk Seri Khaled Nordin, secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki and information chief Datuk Seri Azalina Othman.

A total of 6,341 delegates are expected to attend the assembly this year, which comes just ahead of crucial state elections.

Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan will open the assembly for the party's Wanita, Youth and Puteri wings at 8pm Wednesday night.
