SHAH ALAM: The Air Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has removed the wreckage of the Beechcraft 390 (Premier 1) airplane that crashed along the Guthrie Corridor Expressway.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the wreckage was taken by the AAIB for further investigation on Monday (Aug 21) evening.

"They cleared the scene by 7pm. The road where the plane crashed has also been repaved by local authorities and all lanes are now open to traffic along Persiaran Elmina.

"As the wreckage has been removed, we have also called our personnel to stand down from monitoring the area," he told reporters on Tuesday (Aug 22).

It was reported that a preliminary investigation report into Thursday's (Aug 17) plane crash will be prepared within 30 days from the date of the incident.

According to the Transport Ministry, the AAIB team has initiated a technical investigation based on Annex 13 – Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation of the International Civil Aviation Organisation.

The main purpose of the investigation is to determine the cause of the accident in order to save lives and prevent similar incidents in the future.

The ministry emphasised that the purpose of the investigation was not to apportion blame or liability.
