What kind of leaders does Africa need to address Africa's greatest challenges?
Here's how we are answering this question
The Steering For Greatness has initiated LETclub, a high school program in different areas of Lagos State, with permission from the Commissioner For Education of Lagos State. LETClub, fully known as the Leadership Entrepreneurship and Technology Club. The LETclub was mainly launched to enrich and empower high school students with entrepreneurial, leadership, and innovative knowledge and skills that help them build different leadership, interpersonal, and entrepreneurial skill sets. Deborah Longjohn led the project with support from Victor Chimezie and 14 other volunteers, and it was successfully initiated in 7 schools within Lagos state. However the initial plan was to launch this project in ten schools, but we dropped three schools due to the resources needed.
The seven schools are Agidingbi Senior Grammar School, Oke-Ira Senior Grammar School, Community Senior High School Wasinmi, Opebi Senior Grammar School, Omole Senior Grammar School, State Senior High School, and Babs Fafunwa Millenium High School.
What was the impact of LETclub projects on students?
Many students testified how the program impacted their learning and leadership journeys.
#Uroye Ejiroghene, an SS2 student from Oke-Ira Senior Grammar School, says; The LETClub Project has helped me understand some basic things I found difficult, especially on purpose and leadership.
#Aloysius Praise from Community Senior High School says; The LETClub has given me the hidden talents I didn't notice. Through this program, I was able to express myself and set goals.
#Adebowale Olamilekan Fawaz, the club's captain at Community Senior High School, says; We have been taught the meaning of leadership, how to be a leader, when to lead, and ways of leading.
#Azubuiko Leo from Oke-Ira Senior Grammar School says; The LETClub has given me a broad experience in life. I have been educated on technology, how to be a leader, and how to carry followers.
Reading all their testimonials, we understand the positive impacts our project is having on students, and we are ready to impact more students as long as we continue operating in these schools and beyond.
