Description

On Saturday 4th November, The Sierra Leone Arts & Culture festival (#SLACFest ) returns for its FIFTH edition! Young Salone and friends will be taking over Brixton House’s main spaces, offering a jam-packed programme celebrating the rich culture, history, food, and sounds of Sierra Leone.

Theatre one will include games, performances, features, and festival staples such as A Brief History of Sierra Leone and a Krio Klas taster. Panel discussions will include a specially curated conversation by Sierra Leonean media superstar, Vickie Remoe.

Theatre two programming will offer a mix of family friendly workshops and film tasters from the Kip Kompin film programme.

Offering a taste of home and a glimpse of Sierra Leone’s Big Markit, the Small Markit will be open throughout the day in the foyer for festival go-ers to shop for food, drinks, and wares straight from Mama Salone.

Across the Saturday programme here at Brixton House and Sunday programme at Poplar Union, there will also be a specially curated exhibition, ‘Re-imagining Wi Salone’, featuring photographers and artists from home and the diaspora.

And true to Sierra Leonean culture, there will be a celebration of community in the evening, with an after-party, including a DJ set, lots of Sierra Leonean music, and immaculate vibes.

Artists and contributors to be announced shortly! Keep your eyes peeled for more across The Young Sierra Leonean’s social pages and the Brixton House event page!
