Her expert needlework sewed the wedding gowns of the Duchess of Cambridge and the Duchess of Sussex.

But Chloe Savage, an embroiderer who signed the Official Secrets Act to stop her discussing Kate and Meghan’s weddings before the big day — including Kate’s elasticated blue silk and white lace garter — fears being made homeless and is struggling to feed her two children.

Her work for theatres, museums and film studios has dried up in the pandemic. She has laid off apprentices, shut her Bristol workshop and is working from her mother’s garage.
