Man arrested for house robbery outside Modjadjiskloof

Three suspects are still at large and a manhunt is underway.

LIMPOPO – The police in Modjadjiskloof have arrested a 29-year-old man believed to be involved in a house robbery on Friday (September 17).

A statement by police spokesperson Brig Motlafela Mojapelo indicated that the robbery took place just after midnight.

“Police received information from a local security company about three suspects armed with rifles, who had just committed a house robbery. The suspect was arrested on the same day of the robbery at a house in Mokgolobotho village following a positive tip-off,” Mojapelo added.

He said some of the stolen items, including a fridge, stove, electrical appliances, clothes, blankets, bicycles, grinders and solar power batteries were recovered.

“Police further confiscated three pellet rifles. The suspect will appear in the Tzaneen Magistrate’s Court today (September 20), while a hunt for the remaining suspects continues,” Mojapelo explained.

He urged anyone with information that will help track the suspects down, to contact detective commander Capt Pikana Shikwambane on 082 414 2736, the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111or their nearest police station.

“We will not allow these criminals to torment our communities and will continue to squeeze them out of their hiding places to ensure every citizen feels safe and their properties are protected. We also applaud the continuous support of the community members,” added provincial police commissioner Lt Gen Thembi Hadebe.
