KUALA LUMPUR: Consumers at selected areas in the Klang Valley will get to pay just RM1 for AirAsia rides charged a minimum of RM5 beginning Tuesday (July 18), says Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub.
The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister said the promotion will cover five locations namely Putrajaya and Cyberjaya, Bukit Bintang, Sunway, Bangsar South and Mont Kiara.
It will be valid for the first 3,000 customers utilising the services daily, beginning at noon from Mondays to Fridays.
He said the promotion applied to rides with a fare of at least RM5 and was part of support for the ministry's Payung Rahmah initiative by the AirAsia Superapp.
Other initiatives under the Superapp include discount codes for consumers buying flight tickets to international destinations or hotels worldwide.
“Those who successfully claim the RM1 promo rides will be eligible for the ‘Ride, Fly and Stay’ Rahmah package, where they will receive a RAHMAH50 promo code to get a RM50 discount on flights booked through the Superapp to any international designation.
“Entering the RAHMAH50 promo code will also generate a RM50 discount on hotel bookings worldwide, (applicable) to the first 100 transactions daily,” Salahuddin said when launching the Payung Rahmah initiative together with AirAsia Superapp here on Tuesday (July 18).
All three promotions are valid until Sept 30.
Salahuddin commended the initiatives, noting how companies including Capital A Berhad, which manages the Airasia Superapp provided initiatives that exceeded what was requested by the government.
“The ministry is committed to ensure all Malaysians are shielded from the rising cost of living and uncertain living situations today.
“We also support efforts by industry players to give added value for consumers using their services,” he added.
Capital A Berhad chief executive officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandes said the RM1 AirAsia rides were set to benefit nearly 200,000 people, especially students at schools and universities around the selected locations.
“We hope this will enable more people to enjoy seamless transportation experiences without compromising their budget,” he added.
