Health-conscious shoppers may soon be adding a rather surprising item to their baskets – breast milk.
Scientists have developed a supplement for adults designed to mirror a mother's milk.
The white powder, which can be added to smoothies or put on cereal, is claimed to have huge benefits for tackling inflammation, improving gut health and helping muscle recovery.
Natural ingredients such as mushrooms and algae were used to create 1,500 functional milk protein mixtures by Israeli food tech firm Maolac.
Maya Ashkenazi, the firm's co-founder, came up with the idea while nursing her first child.

She said: 'I told myself this is the ultimate superfood for mammals. I realised we could leverage all the goodness to create something.'
Two formulas, sold under the brand name Maolactin, will be aimed at professional athletes to the elderly.
They could be in shops early next year and Maolac insists they have not been lab grown.
